It started in a cupboard.
PLACEHOLDER STORY — replace with the real founding account. There was no shop, no website and no plan. There was a cupboard with eleven sarees in it, a phone, and a belief that most people buying silk have no way of knowing what they are actually paying for. Everything since has been an argument with that one problem.
How it happened
- 2019
Eleven sarees and a phone
The first sarees were bought on a trip to Varanasi with money that should have gone somewhere more sensible. They sold to friends, then to friends of friends, photographed on a bedsheet in daylight because there was no studio and no budget for one.
- 2021
The year of voice notes
Everything shut. We sold entirely over WhatsApp — draping pieces on ourselves, sending voice notes about how a cloth actually behaves, taking measurements over video call. It was meant to be a stopgap. It became the way we prefer to sell.
- 2023
The first store, and the Silk Mark
The Metpally store opened with one rule carried over from the cupboard: if we cannot say which loom it came off, it does not go on the rail. That is also the year we started putting the Silk Mark on every pure silk piece rather than just saying the words.
- Now
One store, and the same rule
Over eleven hundred pieces, one store in Metpally, and shipping across India. The catalogue is far bigger than the cupboard. The rule about knowing the loom has not moved.
What we will not budge on
- We name the weave or we do not sell it
- If a supplier cannot tell us the cluster and the loom, we assume there is a reason, and we pass.
- The photograph is the piece
- Shot in daylight, no colour push, no smoothing. A saree that looks quiet on screen is quiet in person — which is the point.
- The blouse is part of the saree
- A saree without a matching blouse is half a saree. Every piece comes with a blouse cut from the same or a complementary fabric, ready for your own tailor.
Who you are actually buying from
MIRAKI Creations is run by Harisha and Vikram, out of the Metpally store. They buy the cloth themselves and answer the WhatsApp number personally.
If you message us, one of the two of us replies. There is no chatbot and there is no ticket number.
